Westwall – Four Battles to Germany
The Westwall system is an operational (battalion/regiment) simulation of key battles on the frontier of the Reich in 1944-45. Each game covers a clash between the Germans and the American or British armies that had pursued across France to the barrier of the Westwall.
Hurtgen Forest covers the combat between US and German forces near the Belgian-German border in November 1944.
Arnhem covers all of September 1944’s Operation Market Garden. Three Allied airborne divisions were dropped up to 60 miles behind German lines in an attempt to establish a bridgehead over the lower Rhine at Arnhem.
Remagen covers the operations of 7 to 17 March 1945, which saw US forces cross the Rhine in force at that river town. An optional scenario is provided to show what might’ve happened had the Germans reacted more speedily to the US crossing.
Siege of Bastogne covers the fighting that took place in December 1944 around that town in southern Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. The struggle was divided into two phases, and a scenario is provided covering both of the phases as self-contained games. A full campaign scenario is also included that allows you to refight both phases as a single continuous game. The first scenario, Spearhead, covers the period of 18 to 21 December. It presents the first phase, when the spearhead of German Fifth Panzer Army first approached the vital road and communication center of Bastogne. The second scenario, Relief of Bastogne, depicts the situation of 21 to 26 December, the period of Patton’s drive from the south to relieve the siege of Bastogne and open a supply line to its defenders.
